Integrated Signal Processing (ISP)

In 2006, Widex launched the top performing sound processing strategy available today - It’s called Integrated Signal Processing – or ISP.

ISP sets today’s standard in hearing enhancement. It restores your ability to hear your favourite sounds – naturally, comfortably and clearly.

A more comfortable sound for a more confident you

ISP is centred around your hearing comfort and confidence in all situations. The only thing you need to focus on is the sound around you:

  • Natural sounds
  • Sound tailored to your preferences
  • Hear more of what you need to in noise
  • Smaller hearing aids with more performance
  • Greater comfort
  • Longer battery life

What is Integrated Signal Processing?

Integrated Signal Processing is the culmination of 50 years’ experience in the development of advanced hearing aid technology at Widex, the digital hearing pioneers.

ISP involves a revolutionary approach to hearing aid technology: Power and Control.

Power and Control: The tiny ISP microchip is incredibly powerful. ISP is also incredibly personal - the Dynamic Integrator in ISP controls the hearing aid to take account of your individual preferences and needs whilst also optimising the aid to operate at peak effectiveness.

Why is ISP important for hearing?

ISP solves the problems inherent in the two sound processing strategies used by other hearing aids today – sequential processing and parallel processing.

  • Sequential Processing –Sound can become “over-processed”, distorted, unnatural sounding and uncomfortable.

  • Parallel Processing – One processing block influences the sound reaching other blocks. This means some features of the hearing aid negatively influence other important sound processing centres. The result is an increased likelihood of whistling or of degraded sound quality and comfort.

Integrated Signal Processing is totally different.

Integrated Signal Processing is unique.

ISP’s unique processing architecture refers to your preferences stored in the Dynamic Integrator. ISP also optimises all hearing aid sound processes to work together, addressing the noise environment as well as your needs and preferences.

ISP’s unique features make the difference

The sheer power of ISP means that only ISP hearing aids can provide advanced features unavailable from aids using inferior stratagems.

  • Audibility Extender
restores high pitched sounds like birdsong or children’s voices
  • Multi-Directional Active Feedback Cancelling
eliminates whistling and improves comfort by predicting feedback before it can happen
  • Speech Enhancer
using Speech Intelligibility Index (SII) gives unrivalled speech clarity in difficult conditions like parties
  • High Definition Locator
identifies and eliminates unwanted noise, but retains speech
  • Speech & Noise Tracer
    intelligently separates speech from noise
  • Enhanced Dynamic Range Compression
works to make sure soft sounds are audible and loud sounds remain comfortable
  • EcoTech II
hibernates hearing aid processes not in use, extending battery life

You will not find this combination of features or benefits from any other type of hearing aid.

ISP

Widex ISP ensures you benefit from:

  • Unique features
  • Better performance
  • More comfortable sound
  • More reliable performance
  • Real long-term value
integrated chip

The ISP Chip:
The Dynamic Integrator (grey central area) controls all processes

Sequential

Sequential processing: Sound enters from the left - the final processing blocks in the chain are working with signals that have already been processed, degrading output

Parallel

Parallel Processing: sound enters from the left – changes controlled by one processing block also affect the other blocks, compromising their performance

Integrated

Integrated Signal Processing: sound enters from the left – all processing blocks are optimised to the user’s preferences (stored in the Dynamic Integrator), working in harmony with the inputs and outputs of all the other processing blocks.

Dynamic Integrator

The Dynamic Integrator is at the heart of ISP and controls all processes
