One of the biggest problems for first-time hearing aid users can be the disturbing effect of background noise. Advanced digital hearing aids go a long way towards solving this problem. They are able to reduce noise and enhance speech through sophisticated processing software that adjusts the sound seamlessly and automatically.
As well as offering high levels of sound quality, digital hearing aids are now so small that they can be worn discreetly on, and often practically invisibly in, the ear.
There are three types of hearing aid. The smallest model is called a CIC (completely in canal) and is placed deeply in the ear canal and is therefore barely visible. ITE (in-the-ear) models fit snugly in the ear and BTE (behind-the-ear) models sit, as the name suggests, discreetly behind the user's ear.
